How Seagull 1963's team protects online revenue while scaling a luxury watch brand
Learn why the leadership team at Seagull 1963, a C&B Holdings brand, trusts Revend to protect their online revenue.
About the customer
Seagull 1963, as the name suggests, is an eCommerce company that focuses fully on providing the iconic timepiece that is the Seagull 1963 (prototype of the Project d304). After being collectors of every possible Seagull 1963 Chronograph model for years, the founders created this business to share their passion for this legendary watch. With nearly a decade of track record to show for, you can be sure both the quality and shopping experience on Seagull 1963’s webshop is top notch.
Why Seagull 1963 uses Revend
In the winter of 2022, the Seagull team installed Revend after quadrupling their customer base following Black Friday. To keep momentum and make sure no technical issues are left undetected due to this growth, they entrusted Revend with keeping a close eye on the operational metrics of their WooCommerce-powered store.
Revend monitors operational KPI metrics in real-time (e.g. product views, clicks, add to carts, checkouts, purchases), and uses different AI models to determine when a deviation of these metrics indicates potential trouble before sending a notification via Slack, Teams, or email.
The result? Seagull’s performance team has more peace of mind, is able to solve issues faster, and has already saved thousands of euros in revenue. If something is going wrong that might affect their customers, Revend is the first to tell them.
A use case
On the 4th of April of 2023, at 11.00 AM, the team at Seagull received the following Revend message on Slack:
In an instant, the Seagull team learns the following things:
- In the last hour, purchases completed for their webshop had dropped down 100%, falling all the way to zero.
- Purchases completed have been down to zero for an hour and 5 minutes, and it is still going on. This might seem short, but for Seagull every minute counts!
- On top of that, Revend’s custom checkout robot has detected that the Add To Cart step of Seagull’s online flow is broken.
- Only this part of the funnel seems most affected so far, so the issue is not affecting people just browsing the website.
- By clicking ‘see more’, they can see every measuring point of the Revend model, to understand why a message was sent. (blurred upon request by Seagull’s team)
- As with every Revend message, they can indicate whether this was an actual issue or a false positive after the fact to train their model.
Alerted by Revend, Seagull’s team investigates the add to cart section of the webshop in question and discovers that, indeed, something is going wrong.
After diving into the issue, they found that the siteground caching plugin was causing problems. After removing this element, they quickly managed to get the webshop working again.
Within 45 minutes after studying the Revend notification, Seagull’s team was able to spot, identify, and fix the issue. The financial impact? By their own calculations, they saved over €3,500 in online revenue.
The impact of real-time monitoring
The quote above from Seagull’s founder says it all. Here's the full version: “Our add to cart was broken, and Revend spotted it first, helping us to fix it fast and make sure our subsequent ad and email campaigns had great returns. One notification provided us with enough value to justify Revend's yearly licence many times over.”
Because the alert went out quickly, the day was saved a lot faster than in the pre-Revend days. The Seagull team estimated that at least a couple of hours worth of revenue, totalling close to €3,500, was saved due to Revend’s timely notification.
On top of that, they have more peace of mind knowing Revend automatically monitors every step of their customer journey around the clock.
The cherry on top? Seagull's customers no longer risk getting frustrated with an issue when buying their favourite corrective skincare products. Everybody wins 😊
A big thank you to team Seagull for being one of our pioneer users from day one, with a special mention for Aschwin Bauwens for his feedback and support.
